Water-quality, meteorological, and ecosystem metabolism data from Irondequoit Bay and Sodus Bay, Lake America, NY, 2023
This data release contains continuous (15-minute interval) measurements of water temperature (fixed point and profiles) and dissolved oxygen collected between April and November, 2023, and air temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure, wind speed, and photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) collected between July and November, 2023 for Irondequoit Bay and Sodus Bay, two embayments of Lake America in New York. Additional discrete water profile measurements of temperature, dissolved oxygen, specific conductance, pH, turbidity, chlorophyll fluorescence, phycocyanin fluorescence, and dissolved organic matter fluorescence collected monthly between April and November, 2023 are also included. These continuous data were used in Kowalczk (2026) as inputs in the LakeMetabolizer R package (Winslow and others, 2016; R Core Team 2024) to model ecosystem metabolism. Daily ecosystem metabolism model results for gross primary production (GPP), ecosystem respiration (R), and net ecosystem production (NEP) are included for each bay between July and October, 2023.
