Human Resources - Shakman Exempt Positions
This dataset includes current positions that are considered exempt from the hiring standard requiring political factors not be considered during the hiring process.
Most County hiring may not take into consideration any political reason or factor following the lawsuit Michael Shakman, et al., v. Democratic Organization of Cook County et al., No. 69 C 2145 (N.D. III.). However, some positions are considered exempt from this condition of hiring.
An exempt position is one that involves policy making to an extent or is confidential in such a way that political affiliation is an appropriate consideration for the effective performance of the job.
