Active location of fish telemetry tags of fish in the Mississippi and Missouri rivers, and tributaries, October 2019 – September 2023

Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Catalog Last Checked: August 01, 2026 at 05:57 AM | Dataset Last Updated: September 12, 2025 at 12:00 AM
This dataset represents coarse active relocations of acoustic transmitters in telemetry tagged fish of various species detected among the Mississippi and Missouri rivers near their confluence. These detections of unknown tagged individuals were incidental and occur within the range and frequency of effort for a focused active telemetry study on invasive carp. These river segments consist of both open river and impounded habitat present during observed hydrologic conditions from 2019-2023. Relocations were primarily on a monthly interval with initial weekly relocations during the first year. Data are available throughout various seasonal conditions and may be used to document timing of movements in these large rivers.
