| description | Nanomaterials are increasingly used in polymer composites to enhance the properties of these materials. Data are presented from a study of sunlight-induced weathering on potential release of nanosilica from a composite with low-density polyethylene (LDPE). Weathering of the composites was determined by quantifying changes in infrared spectroscopic properties (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy / FTIR); mechanical properties, atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy and other procedures. This dataset is associated with the following publication: Zepp, R., B. Acrey, M. Davis, A. Andrady, J. Locklin, R. Arnold, O. Okungbowa, and A. Commodore.
