XBT data were collected during a Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center's Cetacean Research Program's shipboard cetacean survey (Cruise ID SE 08-06). XBT casts were conducted at cetacean sighting locations where d-tags were deployed, between CTD cast locations (7/29) and opportunistically throughout the cruise. Lockheed Martin Sippican T-7 and Fast Deep XBTs were used. Terminal depths were 760 m and 1000 m respectively.
