Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Catalog Last Checked: August 01, 2026 at 03:45 AM | Dataset Last Updated: September 08, 2025 at 12:00 AM
This data release consists of vertical water-quality profile data collected at three locations in West Thompson Lake Connecticut from June to October 2022 and from May to October 2024. The U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, collected these data to assess physical property stratification in the West Thompson Lake. Vertical water quality measurements were obtained using multi-parameter water-quality sondes and include water temperature, specific conductance, dissolved oxygen, pH, turbidity, and chlorophyll a. Additionally, discrete water-quality samples for nitrogen and phosphorus were collected at select depths. The discrete water quality data are available from the U.S. Geological Survey's Water Data for The Nation database at https://doi.org/10.5066/F7P55KJN.
