Water Budget of the Sierra Vista Subwatershed of the Upper San Pedro Basin, 2002 - 2012 and 2020

Metadata Updated: January 21, 2026

Groundwater budgets were compiled from 2002 to 2012 and 2020 for the Sierra Vista Subwatershed for the Upper San Pedro Partnership. In 2012, the annual groundwater budget was estimated to be about -5,000 acre-ft per year (negative values indicate a deficit, where more water is removed from the system than is being returned; positive values indicate a surplus, where more water is entering the system than is being removed). In 2020 the Sierra Vista Subwatershed groundwater budget deficit has decreased to about -3,600 acre-ft per year. This is the smallest deficit calculated since the Upper San Pedro Partnership started to track the groundwater budget beginning in 2002. The total water budget uncertainty is estimated to be about +/-5,300 acre-ft. Intentional human effects on the groundwater budget have declined somewhat less over this period, from -9,000 acre-ft per year in 2012 to -8,530 acre-ft per year in 2020. For a complete description of the water budget inputs, see SIR 2016-5114 and the accompanying memo. Included in this data release are the following files: USPP water_budget_2002-2020_04-26-22.csv: Values for all water budget components
