U-Pb zircon data for some volcanic and intrusive rocks in northern Idaho and northwestern Montana, USA

Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Catalog Last Checked: August 01, 2026 at 06:12 AM | Dataset Last Updated: May 15, 2026 at 12:00 AM
This data release presents U-Pb LA-ICP-MS ages for eight volcanic and plutonic rocks located in the Wallace and Sandpoint 1° x 2° quadrangle region of in northern Idaho and northwestern Montana. The samples were collected by Jeffery L. Mauk and Micah A. Hernandez in 2021 and were analyzed via LA-ICP-MS in 2023 in the Denver Radioisotope Lab. The weighted mean age from all concordant zircon analysis (2-sigma) as well as an age defined by a linearized probability plot (95% - confidence) were calculated. All samples show a unimodal age distribution, and the age and uncertainties, calculated using the linearized probability plot, are interpreted as being the best estimate for the age of zircon crystallization associated with emplacement of the plutonic rocks or eruption of the volcanic rocks.
