TRNSYS Building Energy Simulation Model for a Net-Zero Energy Building with a Ground-Source Heat Pump
This TRNSYS building energy simulation model is developed for a Net-Zero Energy Building (NZEB) located on the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) campus in Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA. The model integrates a two-capacity ground-source heat pump (GSHP), a heat pump water heater (HPWH), an energy recovery ventilator (ERV), a whole-house dehumidifier, and a photovoltaic (PV) array to simulate building performance. Key outputs include energy consumption, thermal loads, occupant comfort, and more. The model has been utilized in the following journal paper:Jang, D.S. and Skye, H.M. (2024), "Performance of a ground-source integrated heat pump for HVAC and DHW in a residential net-zero energy building," Energy Conversion and Management, 321, 119003, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.enconman.2024.119003.
