This dataset includes oceanographic data collected in support of the MAFLA project, including ocean station, bathythermograph (XBT), high-resolution CTD/STD, chemistry, fish/shell-fish surveys, zooplankton, benthic organisms, and marine toxic substances and pollutants data. In 1974, the U.S. Department of the Interior initiated comprehensive marine environmental surveys of the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) off Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida (MAFLA). Data were collected for three years to establish a baseline from which to evaluate effects of oil and gas activities in the MAFLA region.
