Tailwater time series and telemetry receiver range testing data for Kentucky Dam between 2021 and 2022
Invasive carp residency patterns in dam tailwaters are poorly understood. To better inform removal efforts in dam tailwaters, we examined multiple predictors of invasive carp residency in the Kentucky Dam tailwater between 2021 and 2022. This data release contains a time series dataset with daily counts and daily mean residence times of Silver Carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) recorded in the Kentucky Dam tailwater between 2021 and 2022. These data were related to lock and dam operation variables (number of lockages and total, spill gate, and turbine discharge), tailwater elevation, water temperature, and tag addition events. Three telemetry datasets are also included in this release to demonstrate the detection efficacy of an acoustic telemetry array installed in the tailwater. Any use of trade, firm, or product names is for descriptive purposes only and does not imply endorsement by the U.S. Government.
