Synoptic Summary of the Day (SSOD), Version 2
The Synoptic Surface Summary of the Day Version 2 (SSODv2) is the successor dataset to the Global Summary of the Day (GSOD). GSOD was derived from the Integrated Surface Dataset (ISD) and SSOD is derived from the Global Historical Climatology Network hourly (GHCNh) dataset. SSOD will be updated daily using the United States Air Force and NOAA Surface Weather Observations data streams. The online data files begin with 1929 and over 9000 stations' data are typically available. SSOD/GSOD variables include daily means of: temperature, dew point temperature, sea level pressure, station pressure, visibility, and wind speed; plus daily precipitation, snow depth, weather indicator code, maximum/minimum temperatures, maximum wind gust and maximum sustained wind speed.
