Survey of the 2008 Nura earthquake surface rupture, Kyrgyzstan, 2018
This raster is related to the surface rupture resulting from the 2008 Nura earthquake in south Kyrgyzstan. Digital surface models (DSM) were generated by acquiring low-altitude (between 35120 m) aerial photographs using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). UAV drone models included the DJI Phantom 4 Pro and Mavic Pro carrying cameras with build in global navigation satellite system (GNSS) with 10 m accuracy, and a photo pixel resolution of 5472 x 3648 px and 4000 x 3000 px, respectively. To reduce the positional error of the resulting models, ground-control points (GCP) were placed throughout the survey areas with ~DIN-A0-sized blue tarp targets. The target positions were measured using a kinematic differential GNSS (dGNSS) system.
The dataset comprises eight individual sets, each subdivided into four tiles. This segmentation is necessitated by the substantial size of the dataset, a result of its high resolution. This high resolution enables the precise resolution of surface rupture offsets down to the decimeter scale.
