Survey of landslides triggered by the 2015 Gorkha Earthquake, Nepal

Nine sites in the region affected by strong ground motion during the 2015 Mw 7.8 Gorkha, Nepal Earthquake were scanned using ground-based static lidar technology between July 2015 and May of 2016. All sites are north of Kathmandu, along the Trisuli, and Bhote Koshi, and Koshi rivers. The primary objective of the lidar scans was to document co-seismic landslides triggered by the earthquake immediately following the event. This information can be used to understand the failure mechanisms, slope conditions during the earthquake, and can inform future slope stability studies. The project consisted of nine scans of variable point density, all independently registered to surveyed control points.
