Streamflow and Surface Water-quality Data to Support the Assessment of the French Broad River During Highway Construction in Western North Carolina, 2019-2022.

Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Catalog Last Checked: August 01, 2026 at 03:23 AM | Dataset Last Updated: July 24, 2026 at 12:00 AM
This Data Release serves as a companion to the USGS Scientific Investigations Report titled "Streamflow Characterization and Effects of Highway Construction on Water-quality and Channel Morphology of the French Broad River near Highway Construction in Buncombe and Henderson Counties, North Carolina, 2019-2022" (Stillwell and others, 2026). Two tables of data are included in this Data Release. "Table1_Streamflows.csv" contains a time series of streamflow data at three monitoring locations (03447687, FBR Airport; 03447890, FBR Above Bridge; 03448050, FBR Below Bridge) in 15-minute increments from June 1, 2019 through December 31, 2022. Streamflow values are measured at 03447687 and estimated at 03447890 and 03448050. Streamflows are apportioned to baseflow or quickflow, with columns corresponding to each estimate. Streamflows are also classified into quantiles, hydrograph positions, and seasons (with corresponding columns). "Table2_WaterQualityCrossSections.csv" contains a set of water-quality cross-section surveys collected at three monitoring locations (03447687, FBR Airport; 03447890, FBR Above Bridge; 03448050, FBR Below Bridge). Each water-quality cross-section survey is sorted by position (1 through 10 as measured from left bank to right bank facing downstream) and contains data describing water temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, specific conductance, and turbidity.
