S&T Project 8126 Final Report: Chemical Compatibility Between Concrete Repair Materials and ASR Affected Concrete

Published by Bureau of Reclamation | Department of the Interior | Catalog Last Checked: April 18, 2026 at 01:05 AM | Dataset Last Updated: October 05, 2021 at 02:13 PM
Reclamation has numerous concrete structures suffering from deterioration due to alkali-silica reaction (ASR) that need repair. It is widely known what characteristics a repair material should have to mitigate ASR within the repair material itself, but there is a need for better understanding of how the repair material may affect existing concrete with ASR and the bond between the two. This report summarizes the results of bond testing performed on control and ASR reactive slabs overlayed with four different concrete repair materials.
