S&T Project 22093 Data: Spillway Uplift Testing

This experimental data was obtained from a physical hydraulic model of a spillway joint with a variable unsealed gap width and a variable offset height into the flow caused by uplift of the downstream slab or settlement of the upstream slab. The purpose of the study was to measure the pressure generated within the joint and transmitted below the slab by high-velocity flow striking the joint, and to measure flow through the simulated spillway joint. Recorded data include the flow rate in the flume, the velocity approaching the joint over the majority of the depth-range of each flow, the pressure developed within the joint, and the flow rate through the joint. All other parameters in the spreadsheet are calculated from these basic data.
