Soil-Water-Balance model of the Red River alluvial aquifer east of Lake Texoma, southeastern Oklahoma, 1980-2022

Metadata Updated: September 12, 2025

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB), constructed a Soil-Water-Balance (SWB) model of the Red River alluvial aquifer east of Lake Texoma in southeastern Oklahoma. Although the SWB model active area extends into parts of Texas and Arkansas, the SWB model was used to estimate recharge to the Red River alluvial aquifer between January 1980 and December 2022 for development of a hydrogeologic framework and conceptual groundwater-flow model focused on southeastern Oklahoma as part of a hydrologic investigation for the same period. This USGS data release contains all the input and selected output files for the SWB model described in the associated model documentation report (Codner and others, 2025). This data release also contains data from a pumping test, base-flow estimation, and groundwater use analysis which were also used to develop the hydrogeologic framework and conceptual model for the Red River alluvial aquifer. These data are included in the ancillary folder of this data release.
