Single Nucleotide Polymorphism Database (dbSNP)

Published by National Library of Medicine (NLM) | U.S. Department of Health & Human Services | Catalog Last Checked: September 28, 2026 at 08:25 PM
The dbSNP repository contains human single nucleotide variations, microsatellites, and small-scale insertions and deletions along with information about publications, population frequency, molecular consequence, and genomic and RefSeq mapping information. In addition to single nucleotide alterations that are common enough in a population to be referred to as polymorphic, dbSNP also includes rare variants, such as those with clinical assertions in NCBI’s ClinVar repository.
