Published by NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information | National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Department of Commerce | Catalog Last Checked: August 03, 2026 at 03:14 AM | Dataset Last Updated: April 11, 2023 at 12:00 AM
This data package contains oil spill simulations in different areas of the Gulf of Mexico. These spills vary where they are simulated, how much oil is being released into the environment, and when the oil is being released. The runs are based on the Navy Coastal Ocean Model (NCOM), a numerical ocean model that simulates the ambient ocean conditions at the time the spill was simulated.
