Lineage WinCruz sighting records are extracted from the WinCruz file. Additional data collected during the sighting is added to the WinCruz data and maintained in tabular form. WinCruz writes data in the DAS format that can be read by a text editor (e.g. Microsoft Notepad). The output files are labeled DASxxxx.yzz and BAKxxxx.yzz, where xxxx is the time the program starts, y is the month in hex format, and zz is the day. The BAK file is the backup information of the events as they happen, including any edits of previous forms. The DAS file contains all the corrected information. Typically there is one output file per day (unless the computer program is closed and reopened.
