RT-QuIC Florescence Data from Experimental Soils Varying in Soil Texture

Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Catalog Last Checked: May 05, 2026 at 08:41 PM | Dataset Last Updated: April 01, 2026 at 12:00 AM
We assessed the performance of the real-time quaking-induced conversion (RT-QuIC) assay under different soil textures. We combined sand, silt and clay in different proportions to create experimental soils representative of southwest Wisconsin, USA. Experimental soils were spiked with a brain homogenate from a chronic wasting disease positive white-tailed deer (to test assay sensitivity) or water (to test assay specificity). The dataset includes raw fluorescence data collected every 15 minutes for 48 hours.
