Replanted Sites on Refuges in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas - Collection of Data
Forest or thornscrub habitat is a severely limited resource for wildlife in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Since the 1980’s, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has conducted some form of forest or thornscrub habitat restoration work but records were not digital and available to the public or external partners to use until 2023. These draft files are an attempt to make this tool more widely available for that use.
Be aware that these are the best guess of the treatments (e.g., dates, densities, methods, etc) that can be attributed to these treatment areas at the time of the creation of this tool/KMZ. Additional and more accurate records may be in paper file format at the Refuge for those interested in assessing accuracy more deeply.
These data are appropriate to be used in developing a basic sampling design to then be further evaluated by Refuge staff that may have more and better details for each site. Refuge staff should be contacted to evaluate any specific data design that you may develop using these draft data.
An updated KMZ may be provided in the future and would be cross referenced to this resource.
