Raw data for fourteen new argon-argon radiometric dates from a subset of basalt flows at the Idaho National Laboratory, Idaho

Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Catalog Last Checked: August 06, 2026 at 11:10 PM | Dataset Last Updated: August 04, 2026 at 12:00 AM
This data release provides the full analytical dataset for fourteen new argon‑argon (⁴⁰Ar/³⁹Ar) radiometric ages from olivine tholeiite basalt flows at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) on the eastern Snake River Plain, Idaho. Samples were collected from basalt flows in eight subsurface coreholes (43–450 ft below land surface) and five surface sites. The release includes machine‑generated raw isotopic measurements, all calculated age estimates for each heating step and sample split, analytical uncertainties, and documentation of the complete ⁴⁰Ar/³⁹Ar analytical procedures. Ar–Ar diagrams are provided for each sample.
