Precipitation-runoff model archive for USGS 362901116184801 Amargosa Flat Wash above Carson Slough near Ash Meadows, NV

Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Catalog Last Checked: September 10, 2026 at 07:52 PM | Dataset Last Updated: August 14, 2026 at 12:00 AM
This child item consists of a hydrologic model archive for the precipitation-runoff model used to simulate flood inundation extents for Carson Slough in Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge, Nevada. Two flood events were used for model calibration, while a third event was used for model validation, with storm dates ranging from August 2022 - February 2024. The calibrated model was then used to estimate flood flows for hypothetical storm events in the study area. Hypothetical storms were derived from NOAA Atlas 14 precipitation frequency grids for the study area. This child item includes: 1) the precipitation-runoff model archive, built using US Army Corps of Engineers Hydrologic Modeling System (HEC-HMS) (Precip_Runoff_Model_Archive.zip); 2) the executable installation file for HEC-HMS 4.12 used to run the simulations (HEC-HMS_412_Setup.exe); 3) an overview of how to run the model and all the files and folders in Precip_Runoff_Model_Archive.zip (README.txt) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Hydrologic Modeling System (HEC-HMS), version 4.12 was used for the precipitation-runoff model in the study area. The 01_HMSarchive_AmargosaWash zip file contains all materials necessary to reproduce model simulations.
