Potential Explanatory Variables for Groundwater Quality in the San Joaquin Valley Kern County Subbasin Domestic Well Study Unit, 2022
This data release codifies and attributes explanatory variables at 33 wells used for domestic water supply. The sites were used to assess groundwater quality in the U.S. Geological Survey Priority Basin Project San Joaquin Valley Kern County Subbasin domestic-well study unit. The domestic-supply wells were assessed in 2021 as part of the California State Water Resources Control Board Groundwater Ambient Monitoring and Assessment (GAMA) program. Study design and site selection for the Kern County Subbasin domestic well study unit were detailed by Faulkner and Dupuy (2023). The data types in this data release include site identification and location, land use characteristics, groundwater age and oxidation-reduction classifications and aridity indices, proximity to geographic, hydrologic, and geologic features, and total detections of organic compounds. Water-quality data for the sites are available from U.S. Geological Survey (2023) and Faulkner and Dupuy (2023). The study results are presented in Harkness and others (2026).
