Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance concentrations in water, sediment, particulates, and biota in stream and riparian food webs in the Farmington River watershed (Connecticut, USA), 2020-2023
This dataset includes a collection of files related to a project investigating concentrations of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in biotic and abiotic compartments of five stream food webs in the Farmington River watershed, Connecticut, USA. The dataset contains aqueous, sediment, and tissue concentrations of 28 PFAS compounds, 19 of which were detected at least once. Aqueous concentrations came from groundwater and surface water. Sediment concentrations came from stream sediment. Tissue concentrations came from samples of biofilm, detritus, seston, larval insects (Odonata, Ephemeroptera, Trichoptera, Megaloptera, Diptera), adult insects (same taxa), and terrestrial spiders (Tetragnathidae). The dataset also includes wet masses of spiders and larval and adult insect and stable isotopes (C and N stable isotope values) of biofilm, spiders, and larval and adult insects. For all PFAS data, field blanks are included to ensure against sample contamination.
