Peak-streamflow data from PeakFQ for central and western Colorado, 2019
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Colorado Department of Transportation, developed peak-, mean-, and low-streamflow regional-regression equations for natural streamflow in central and western Colorado. This data release includes geographic information systems data and hydrologic data that were compiled, processed, and analyzed for this peak-, mean-, and low-streamflow study. Flood-frequency estimates for annual-exceedance probabilities of 0.50, 0.20, 0.10, 0.04, 0.02, 0.01, 0.005, and 0.002 (return periods of 2-, 5-, 10-, 2-, 50-, 100-, 200-, and 500-years) were computed using the USGS software program PeakFQ version 7.3 using data from 418 streamgages through water year 2019. In the PeakFQ_data zip folder, there are 3 file types (.psf, .EXP, .PRT) generated by the PeakFQ program for each streamgages. The .psf file is the PeakFQ specification file used for running the program in batch mode. The .EXP file is the export file from PeakFQ with estimates of the exceedance probabilities as well as other statistics. The .PRT file is a print file from PeakFQ with numerous output tables. Table 4 in the .PRT file contains the exceedance probabilities used in this analysis, which are the same as those in the .EXP file. A ReadMe file for each of the three file types (PSF_ReadMe.txt, EXP_ReadMe,txt, PRT_ReadMe.txt) defines the contents of each PeakFQ file type.
