This dataset contains oceanographic data collected in several marine protected areas between Pago Pago, American Samoa and Honolulu, Hawaii. Operations included the use of the ship’s Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP), Scientific Computer System (SCS) data acquisition system designed for oceanographic and fisheries applications, and the ship’s high-bandwidth satellite connection for hourly data transfer, real-time ship to shore communications, real-time sonar control from shore, and real-time video streaming of sonar screens and ship’s cameras. Operations were conducted in American Samoa, the Cook Islands, the high seas, Kiribati, Hawaii, and the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument’s (PRIMNM) Jarvis Island and Kingman Reef/Palmyra Atoll Units. Data acquisition from shipboard sensors includes navigation data, meteorological data (wind, air temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure, radiation), and oceanographic data (thermosalinograph, remote temperature probe, sound velocity probe, bathythermograph).
