NYSERDA-Supported Air Source Heat Pump Projects: 2017-2019

Metadata Updated: July 6, 2024

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) sought to accelerate the adoption of Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs) by working to develop supply chains and expand service networks to make them available in the market and supported by key actors, such as ASHP installation contractors. When initially launched, NYSERDA’s now closed ASHP Program provided incentives to solely Participating Installers for the installation of Program Qualified ASHP systems. NYSERDA’s Air-Source Heat Pump Program provided nearly $14,950,000 in incentives to Participating Installers for the installation of Program Qualified Air Source Heat Pump systems. The New York State Public Service Commission allocated funding for this program through the Clean Energy Fund (CEF) to expand the ASHP market in New York and to support installations for customers who pay (or will pay in the case of new construction) the System Benefit Charge (SBC)/CEF surcharge on their electricity bills. Incentives were available per installed Program Qualified ASHP system to Participating Installers on a first-come, first-served basis. Incentives included those that may have been retained by the Participating Installer as well as additional incentives that were paid to the Participating Installer but credited to site owners.

The NYSERDA-Supported Air Source Heat Pump Projects: 2017-2019 dataset contains characteristics about each ASHP project that participated in a NYSERDA ASHP program.

NYSERDA offers objective information and analysis, innovative programs, technical expertise, and support to help New Yorkers increase energy efficiency, save money, use renewable energy, and accelerate economic growth. reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
