    HE.D.6 - Number of gallons of water pumped from treatment plants per capita per day

    Austin Water calculates GPCD as the total water pumped from its treatment plants annually divided by the population of its service area, both residential and wholesale. Annual population estimates are derived from census data and historical trends. This measure should not be used to compare Austin with other cities, whose water needs and customer base will differ, but is appropriate for measuring the impact of Austin's conservation efforts over time.
