    • Feed the Future Nigeria Tractor Owner Survey 2018

    This data asset contains the data from the tractor owner survey carried out in Benue State in Nigeria in 2018. Benue state was one of the seven focal states under the Nigerian Agricultural Policy Project (NAPP) under the USAID FTF. Since the survey focused on the population for which no list existed, the sampling design was based on snowballing methods, in which tractor owners were identified from known tractor owners, tractor-owner’s associations, local NGOs and government offices, as well as tractor sellers identified at earlier stages. In total, 67 tractor owners were interviewed. The data is split into survey modules. Modules 1 is the Cover Sheet and Informed Consent. Module 2 includes preferences of tractors / power tillers. Module 3 is inventory of tractors / power tiller owners. Module 4 covers the reasons for the type / brand of tractors / power tillers. Module 5 covers the inventory of tractor / power tiller attachments. Module 6 covers the utilization of tractors / power tillers. Module 7 covers the costs and revenues from tractor rentals for farming activities. Module 8 covers the financing of tractors / power tillers. Module 9 covers the process of ownership. Module 10 covers the tractor/power tiller maintenance and repairs. Module 11 covers the relationship with the machine operators. Module 12 covers the questions for long-past owners of tractor / power tillers. Lastly, Module 13 covers general household characteristics.
