NCCOS Assessment: Quantification of Sediment Contaminants Before and After Port Everglades, Florida Dredging 2020-11-15 to 2021-03-16 (NCEI Accession 0282807)

Published by NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information | National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Department of Commerce | Catalog Last Checked: August 27, 2026 at 09:19 PM | Dataset Last Updated: September 27, 2023 at 12:00 AM
This dataset represents a two time sediment sampling effort, occurring before and after the dredging project at Port Everglades. Samples were taken before dredging (sampling on 11.15.20) and after dredging (sampling on 3.16.21). A suite of organic and inorganic parameters were quantified at 18 targeted sites on coral reefs near the port. Contaminants quantified included: polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and trace elements (including heavy metals). Sediment grain size was also quantified. This is NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program project #31306.
