National Address Database (NAD) Text File

Published by US Department of Transportation | Department of Transportation | Catalog Last Checked: July 02, 2026 at 07:51 AM | Dataset Last Updated: July 01, 2026
The Address Points from National Address Database dataset was compiled on June 30, 2026 by the US Department of Transportation. The National Address Database (NAD) is a spatial database containing address data, point location coordinates, jurisdictions, record-level metadata and other supporting data for addressable locations including structures, some sub-units within those structures, and landmarks as included in the aggregated datasets from providers included therein. Technical Note: Record Ordering and Object IDs Please Note: The records in this flat text file are structured in their optimized physical database order, rather than numerical sequence by OID_ (Object ID). Because the National Address Database leverages highly efficient spatial indexing and bit-packing compression algorithms before export, geographically clustered records (such as specific states or counties) are grouped together on disk. All OID_ values remain perfectly unique across the entire dataset, but they will appear out of chronological order when reading the file sequentially. If your integration workflow requires a strict numerical sequence, you can safely sort the dataset by the OID_ column upon ingestion.
