Published by data.sfgov.org | City of San Francisco | Catalog Last Checked: July 14, 2026 at 10:15 PM | Dataset Last Updated: July 09, 2026
A. SUMMARY All transit stops in the SFMTA system (e.g. Muni bus and transit stops). B. METHODOLOGY Stop data is exported from the Trapeze scheduling system and represents the most up to date location of transit stops. C. UPDATE FREQUENCY Updated by “Sign-up”, when transit system changes are put into effect. Updates range from every 3-6 months. D. HOW TO USE THIS DATASET This dataset is derived from the GTFS data that the SFMTA makes available via Metropolitan Transit Commission's 511 Open Transit Data Portal. GTFS files are the standard way to communicate transit schedules, and include the schedule for trips, stop locations, and route paths. The SFMTA publishes new GTFS files whenever the schedule changes. This dataset (shapefile) provides supplementary information for each Muni stop – like what stop amenities (shelters, signs, etc.) are present at each stop. SFMTA's GTFS files are available to download from the Metropolitan Transit Commission's 511 Open Transit Data Portal and also on the Open Data Portal. E. RELATED DATASETS SFMTA General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) Production Data.
