Multi-well Aquifer Test Characteristics for Johnson County, Iowa, 1943-2022
Data from 44 aquifer tests conducted on wells completed in the Silurian-Devonian aquifers within and around Johnson County, Iowa, have been gathered and reformatted to enable easier data analysis and to determine the characteristics of both aquifers. The data were digitally available from the Iowa Geological Survey (IGS) and represent pump tests at selected wells from 1943 to 2022. The data organized for the pump tests included location, well construction information, raw water level data, aquifer test inputs, estimated hydraulic properties, and analysis plots. Data consists of three input datasets aggregated by site number (location, well construction, and water level data), and two processed datasets organized by aquifer test id (aquifer test inputs and estimated parameters). Analyses were performed to determine transmissivity, hydraulic conductivity, and storage coefficients using AquiferTest software (Waterloo Hydrogeologic, 2022). Analytical methods used in the software computation include the Theis (1935) pump test method or the Theis Recovery test method (Theis, 1935; Cooper and Jacobs, 1946).
