Model input and output data supporting modeling the Silver Carp metapopulation connection between the Mississippi and Illinois River

Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Catalog Last Checked: August 29, 2026 at 06:49 PM | Dataset Last Updated: August 26, 2026 at 12:00 AM
This data release contains input data, estimated demographic parameters, movement probabilities, and simulated population outputs for a Silver Carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) metapopulation model. The model explores the importance of the interjurisdictional connection between the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers, with a focus on developing strategies to reduce the risk of an invasion to the Great Lakes. Input data include posterior distributions for length-weight relationships, von Bertalanffy growth curves, von Bertalanffy growth curve standard deviations, female length-maturity relationships, and movement (transition) probabilities. Output data contain the final simulated population distributions under different management scenarios.
