Maryland Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics - Workforce Information & Performance The following description was retrieved from the Maryland Department of Labor website at: https://www.dllr.state.md.us/lmi/wages/ Sources of projected employment data The Maryland estimates are developed in the Office of Workforce Information and Performance within the Maryland Department of Labor. Data used to develop the estimates is generated from the Maryland Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) Program and the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) Program. Both programs are conducted in cooperation with the U. S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Data All data are based on place of work and represent the numbers of jobs, both full-time and part-time. Employment numbers are rounded to the nearest 10. Wages are rounded to the nearest $0.01 for hourly wages and $1.00 for annual wages. If one of the data elements does not meet publication criteria, a blank may appear. Occupational data Occupations covered reflect the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) System. Many occupations are not identified separately in this classification system and are included in aggregate categories. Additionally, some occupational data are suppressed due to publication standards. Local Workforce Development Area Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics The Maryland Department of Labor has provided several extensions to the official OEWS data series (which have been developed in cooperation with the Bureau of Labor Statistics). These additional products have not been validated by BLS and are not, therefore, official BLS data series. The Maryland Department of Labor feels, however, that they provide additional information that is useful to the users of Maryland Department of Labor data. *Note: Entry level wages were calculated using the mean of the first third of the wage distribution. Experienced Level wages were calculated using the mean of the upper two-thirds of the wage distribution. Disclaimer - The accuracy of the data is subject to both sampling and non-sampling error. While this data and related job outlook information can provide valuable inputs to the career decision-making process, they should not be the sole basis of a career choice.
