Marine Trackline Geophysical data represented by sub-bottom seismic data, which we sometimes also call chirp (based on its operating mode), uses a 3.5 kHz operating frequency. Research vessels use this technology to produce cross sections or vertical slices of the upper tens to hundreds of meters of the sediments below the seafloor.
