Lead in Drinking Water
Data provides information on lead sampling results for drinking water at licensed child development facilities across Washington, DC. Sampling is conducted by the District Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE) to assist facilities in accordance with the Childhood Lead Exposure Prevention Amendment Act of 2017 and D.C. Code § 7-2051, which requires testing for lead in drinking water at child development facilities. The dataset covers calendar years 2018 through 2026 and includes facilities in all eight Wards. Data are updated monthly as new results become available. Users can explore facility‑level sampling results, Ward‑level trends, and compliance information. Sampling results include detected lead values, non-detects, and indicators for whether lead levels met or exceeded the 5-ppb threshold that requires corrective actions such as tagging outlets out of service, installing filters, or providing alternative drinking water.Symbols such as "<" indicate values below detection limits, while "≥" indicates results equal to or above defined thresholds. This dashboard allows users to view mapped facility locations, filter results by year, ward, address, and facility name, and access resources on reducing exposure to lead in drinking water and information about District partners working in collaboration to prevent childhood lead poisoning.
