    The LAVO wilderness geodatabase provides spatial information on legislated and proposed wilderness areas in the park.

    The NPS wilderness data transfer standard provides a data standard for four types of datasets: Wilderness Lineage (background information pertaining to the mapping of wilderness), Legislated Wilderness (current wilderness), Historic Legislated Wilderness and Future Wilderness. Historic current and future wilderness boundaries are stored as polygons. The “lineage” feature classes record the metadata for the points and lines that were used in creating the wilderness polygon layers.
