Lake metabolism model inputs and outputs from select U.S. lakes, 2018-2025
This data release provides both the input datasets and modeled output estiamtes generated from eight lake metabolism models, which quantify gross primary production (GPP), ecosystem respiration (ER), and net ecosystem production (NEP). Seven of the lakes were monitored by the National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON), and one by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS Site No. 01670144). The study lakes span a gradient from oligotrophic to hypereutrophic conditions and were analyzed to evaluate ecosystem metabolism as potential early warning indicators (EWIs) of ecological state change in real-world ecosystems.
