July 2025 Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia Images

On July 29, 2025, at 23:24 UTC, a Mw 8.8 earthquake occurred offshore Kamchatka, Russian Federation along the Kuril-Kamchatka subduction zone. This earthquake is the largest event to occur globally since the 2011 Mw 9.0 Tohoku, Japan earthquake, and among the top ten largest earthquakes to occur globally since 1900. It triggered a tsunami that was observed across the Pacific Basin.
