Iowa Unemployment Insurance Recipiency Rate (Quarterly)
The Unemployment Insurance Recipiency Rate is the ratio of Insured Unemployed to Total Unemployed. It provides an estimate of the percentage of unemployed persons who are receiving unemployment insurance benefits. Data based on a moving twelve-month period. Total unemployment figures are provided by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. Figures used in this dataset are not seasonally adjusted. The total unemployment data is subject to revision each month and subject to an annual benchmark revision each year. Since the Unemployment Insurance primarily benefits persons who have lost their job, the recipiency rate will be higher during periods increased layoffs. Insured unemployment is based on weeks claimed. This data includes the Regular Unemployment Insurance benefits (UI), Unemployment Compensation for Federal Employees (UCFE), and Unemployment Compensation for Ex-servicemembers (UCX). It does not include Voluntary Shared Work, and temporary extensions such as Extended Benefits (EB) and Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC).
