Published by National Park Service | Department of the Interior | Catalog Last Checked: January 25, 2026 at 05:29 PM | Dataset Last Updated: August 14, 2009 at 12:00 AM
During August of 2008, 42 localities were sampled throughout the Park (North Carolina and Tennessee), resulting in collection of 11 families, 23 genera, and 49 species of aquatic and semiaquatic Heteroptera. Additional material from other researchers remains to be examined to bring that total closer to the expected total of 63.9 to 100.8 species of water bugs thought possible in the park. One water boatman (Corixidae) collected may represent an undescribed species.
