The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), have developed a high-resolution inset groundwater flow model for the Mississippi River delta as part of an interdisciplinary collaboration, coordinated by the Mississippi Alluvial Plain (MAP) project to provide a tool that stakeholders can use to support water resources management decisions. This data release provides the input and export files for the final calibrated model as well as for forecast models for the area near Shellmound, Mississippi. This inset numerical groundwater flow model was developed from the recently completed delta model as part of the Mississippi Alluvial Plain Study. The development of the model inputs and outputs and calibration can be found in the associated U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Report (Guira and others, 2025). Instructions for reconstructing the original directory structure and running the models included in this data release and described in the model documentation report can be found in the readme.txt file which can be downloaded as part of this data release.
