HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE, TEMPERATURE, SALINITY and PARTICULATE CONCENTRATION AND SIZE DISTRIBUTION PROFILES collected from R/V Pelagia and R/V E.O. Wilson in the Gulf of Mexico from 2016-03-22 to 2016-04-19 (NCEI Accession 0244416)

Metadata Updated: June 1, 2025

Eight conductivity, temperature and depth (CTD) casts made from R/V Pelagia and R/V E.O. Wilson in mouth of Mobile Bay and its environs, 2016-03-22 to 2016-04-19. The field campaign was part of a long-standing effort to understand the nature of buoyant freshwater plumes in shallow micro-tidal environments. Stations were re-occupied up to six times in the mouth of and just outside Mobile Bay, Alabama. Data include profiles of pressure, temperature, conductivity, salinity, oxygen, pH, beam attentuation, beam transmission, and particulate concentration and size distribution; measurements were obtained with a SeaBird SBE19+, a Seabird SBE25 Sealogger, and a LASER In-Situ Scattering and Transmissometry 100-X (LISST). CTD profiles are provided in cnv format, while total suspended solids, particle concentration, and particle size distribution are provided in plain ASCII text.
