The 2-meter temperature data at Hawthorne were collected in 2009 and 2010 by Kratt and others from the Great Basin Center for Geothermal Energy at UNR. Data were first presented in Kratt, C., Sladek, C., Coolbaugh, M., (2010). Boom and bust with the latest 2m temperature surveys: Dead Horse Wells, Hawthorne Army Depot, Terraced Hills, and other areas in Nevada. Transactions, Geothermal Resources Council, 34, 567-573. The data were processed and corrected for seasonal temperature variations using the methods described in Coolbaugh, M. F., Sladek, C., Faulds, J. E., Zehner, R. E., and Oppliger, G. L., (2007). Use of rapid temperature measurements at a 2-meter depth to augment deeper temperature gradient drilling. Thirty-Second Workshop on Geothermal Reservoir Engineering, Stanford University, Stanford, California, January 22-24, SGP-TR-183.
