Growth, condition, and estrogenic effects of genistein in soybean meal diets on larval rainbow trout

Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Catalog Last Checked: August 01, 2026 at 06:16 AM | Dataset Last Updated: September 22, 2025 at 12:00 AM
This data release includes biological and water quality parameters of laboratory samples collected during a chronic, dietary exposure study of genistein. Biological samples and parameters were collected including fish length, fish weight, liver weight, plasma vitellogenin, visual condition, and mortality of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) at given intervals for the duration of the experiment. In conjunction with these samples, water quality parameters of produced reconstituted waters and culture water in experimental exposure aquaria were collected and analyzed to ensure adequate growth conditions for rainbow trout. The goal of this experiment was to determine the physical and physiological effects of increasing dietary genistein on larval rainbow trout.
