Groundwater, Surface water and Tidal Time Series Data at OU1 Naval Base Kitsap, Keyport, WA

This Data release includes time series data collected at Operable Unit 1, Naval Base Kitsap, Keyport, WA and bounding surface water bodies over a 3 week period from 07/12/2018 to 08/08/2018. Groundwater altitudes in nineteen monitoring wells and surface water altitude and water quality parameters in five surface water bodies were monitored. Time series data were collected covered a period that included neap and spring tides. Field deployment details and quality assurance methods are included in Open-File Report 2018-####, “Groundwater Response to Tidal fluctuations, OU1, Naval Base Kitsap, Keyport, Washington”.
Groundwater altitudes are referenced to the North American Vertical Datum 1988 (NAVD88). Groundwater horizontal datum for latitude and longitude were referenced to North American Datum 1983 (NAD83). Water parameters included in each (#MW#-#_Time_Series_Data.csv) file are temperature, in degrees Celsius (C); water level altitude, in feet (ft) above NAVD88. Surface water altitudes are referenced to the North American Vertical Datum 1988 (NAVD88). Surface water horizontal datum for latitude and longitude were referenced to North American Datum 1983 (NAD83). Water parameters included in each (SW-Name_Time_Series_Data.csv) file are temperature, in degrees Celsius (C); water level elevation, in feet (ft) above NAVD88; specific conductivity, in microsiemens per centimeter (µS/cm); and salinity, in practical salinity units (PSU). Tidal altitudes are referenced to the North American Vertical Datum 1988 (NAVD88). Tidal horizontal datum for latitude and longitude were referenced to North American Datum 1983 (NAD83). Parameters in the file Liberty_Bay_Time_Series_Data.csv are temperature, in degrees C, and tide level altitude, in feet (ft) above NAVD88; specific conductivity, in microsiemens per centimeter (µS/cm); and salinity, in practical salinity units (PSU). Barometric pressure was measured every 15 minutes during the 3-week duration. Pressure (psi) data collected was converted to feet-of-water (feet) by the constant 0.3165. This data was then used to corrected non-vented pressure data by removing barometric pressure for every 15-minute data point. Pressure corrected non-vented data could now be compared to vented water level data. An Internet link to the National Water Information System (NWIS) is provided on this landing page along with an attached table of monitoring well and surface water site ID number (Keyport_OU1_NWIS_Site_ID.csv). Surface water site ID were created for locations where stream discharge was measured.
